Abstract
Acute toxicity of Ginkgo bilobu extract (EGb 761) was investigated using rats and rabbits according to Established Regulation of Korean National Institute of Safety Research (1994. 4. 14).
Rats and rabbits were injected intravenously with dosage of 60§·/§¸, 30§·/§¸, 15§·/§¸, 7.5§·/§¸, and 3.75§·/§¸ B. W.
In animals injected with Ginkgo biloba extract(EGb 761), there were neither dead animals nor significant changes of body weight. In addition, no differences were found between control and treated groups in clinical signs and autopsy findings.
Therefore LD_(50) of Ginkgo biloba extract(EGb 761) was considered to be higher than 60§·/§¸ B.W in rat and rabbit.
